Surrendering Your Pet

Pet And Wildlife Rescue will foster local surrendered pets in our approved foster homes if space is available. Our animal centre can accommodate several dogs but we will do our best to foster out non-aggressive dogs until an adopter can be found.

If you wish to surrender your pet, we ask that you please fill out the form below and we will schedule an appointment with you. If the situation is urgent, come and see us at our Chatham location (405 Park Ave. E) for dogs and cats or in Wallaceburg (113 Arnold St.) for dogs only.

If you are having training issues with your pets we encourage you to consult with a local trainer. Many behaviours can be adjusted with a little bit of advice and know how.

If you are renting a home or apartment, please be aware that you cannot be forced to surrender your pet if he or she is not creating a nuisance.

Our surrender fee for cats is $25.

Surrender fee for dogs is $50 or $40 if already fixed.

Please Read

Remember that surrendering your pet will be a very upsetting transition for both of you. It is a decision that must be weighed carefully.

If surrendering is the only option for you, please make sure to include your pet’s vet records, favourite toys, blanket etc. and a few days’ worth of his/her regular food to help the transition.

  • Tell us as much as possible about your dog so we are able to match him or her with the right foster home.
  • Please explain why you have chosen to surrender your pet.
  • Please let us know if your pet is up to date on routine vaccines, fixed and if she or he has any medical condition.
  • Max. file size: 50 MB.
Due to the amount of time involved in safely re-homing a pet we ask that you please let us know if you think you have found a suitable home for you animal so we can confirm the animal does not yet have an adoption application in process. Thank you for your understanding.
