Our shelter transfers many, many cats each year to rescues and shelters who, unlike ours, doesn’t receive many felines yet have many adopters waiting for a furry friend to call their own. Being able to transport our overflow of cats to them is a true life saver and couldn’t be possible without a few components. One is our amazing drivers who regularly transport animals hours away from Chatham-Kent, the other is cat carriers!
Cat carriers are not donated often, yet are one of our most needed item. Some transfers are done in such a way that carriers come back with our driver, but others involve a series of drivers and carriers stay with the receiving shelter/rescue. We find ourselves scrambling to buy as many carriers as we can yet never seem to have enough to fill the demand.
